OK, you lovely Paranormal Investigators, what do you make of this?

The iWay Planchetteā„¢
"WHEN THE PRESSURE TO CONTACT SPIRITS IS JUST TOO MUCH"

Quote:
The iWay Planchette weighs all participants finger weight with the slightest pressure. Try for yourself! If you try to pull or push the planchette in any fashion other than resting a fingertip on it, the LCD display will tell you how much pressure is being applied.

Great for debunking regular planchettes when using with groups or individuals.

Share your thoughts, if you please :D

It will be interesting to define debunking.

During any planchette type divination, the object IS always moved by one or more of the investigators touching it. The same applies to the ouija board, a pendulum, automatic handwriting, etc. It's called the ideomotor effect.

The question to be asked, is, how do you prove whether they are doing this subconsciously (and therefore possibly using paranormal methods) or consciously and therefore faking it.

One such way of reducing intended deliberate movement is to perform the vigil in total darkness using only an infrared camera to view and record the results. I.e. the investigators can not see where the planchette is moving to (except by feel) and therefore can't move it to specific words or letters or numbers or whatever, as they can't see them.

You could also spin the board around randomly so they have no idea where the yes/no and other symbols are that the planchette might move to.

Mmmmm ... Shannon from TAPS. Does one think that this might be a money spinner using the de-bunking theme that they are so well renowned for? Could be, but work or not, I shall not be using one - beause I am old, set in my ways, and the glass works for me, at no extra cost      . Some people just love to take the fun out of any activity     .

Good find Lorraine!

I know nothing about these things, I thought using a glass was totally different to using one of them thingies, but from what i've read, they are basically the same, so now I am confused, what exactly is the difference?

Aren, they are some good investigating tips.

Pat, how about next time we use a glass, we could use Y and N markers on the table and have no light/be blindfolded so we cant see the Y and N positions on the table - it will be interesting to see what results we get !!! I think the glass will still move in a logical way and to the Y/N, but it would be good to put it to the test.
